Something fun from Steven's next book

In case you haven't come across this yet, here is a neat 4 minute video (graphic recording) of the gist of Steven Johnson's newest book, Where Good Ideas Come From. Lots of parallels to tidbits in The Invention of Air.Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NugRZGDbPFU&feature=youtu.beSee More

Lasting Inspiration

There have been a number of books that have made a lasting impression on me. Tom Kelley's The Art of Innovation and Kim Vicente's The Human Factor are two such examples. Without question I can add Delivering Happiness to that list. Here's why:I've been facilitating a number of strategy and innovation sessions over the past 5 weeks, and Zappos has come up time and time again. Innovative Survival Decisions and Greek Miracles

I was perusing the many Post-it flags on my copy of Delivering Happiness when the pages turned to the tough times Zappos was facing in late 2000. Tony describes how “even though it would hurt our growth, we decided to cut most of our marketing expenses, and refocused our efforts on trying to get the customers who had already bought from us to purchase again and more frequently. Little did we know that this was actually a blessing in disguise, as it forced us to focus more on delivering better…See More
