Planning Ahead

Interested in moderating one of our monthly discussions? Drop me a note.

Welcome to the BIF Book Group!

For the planners out there, starting May 24th we'll be tearing into our very own Saul Kaplan's first book: The Business Model Innovation Factory. We're so excited to share his thoughts, experiences and ideas with this community. The initial reviews are out, and BMIF is making waves through the innovation community:

"Saul encourages us to play in the grey spaces between the silos, to notice and connect with unlikely suspects, to create spaces of freedom where people have nothing to prove."
- Monika Hardy

"Saul emphasizes a very critical, and almost always overlooked, component of business models - the HOW of delivering value."

- Deborah Mills-Scofield

"If you're in a business that seems to be surrounded by threats - or opportunities - to upend your business model and start something new, I encourage you to take a look at The BMIF."
- Greg Matthews

Our community exists with a simple and straight-forward proposition: Great conversation focused on great books about innovation.

Looking forward to getting started!

The Problem With Design Thinking

This post appeared on the Fortune Magazine site here and was adapted from my new book, The Business Model Innovation Factory. Believe in the power of design. Through it, we will chart the landscape of possibility - designing, testing and prototyping new terrain. Be a market maker rather than a share taker. Business model innovators are always seeking [...]

Put Your New Business Model to the Test

This post appeared on the HBR site here and was adapted from my new book, The Business Model Innovation Factory. When a consumer product company wants to know how a new product or new marketing campaign will perform, it doesn’t rely solely on traditional market research surveys. It goes to test markets. It’s the right way [...]

Experiment All The Time

This post appeared on the Fortune site here and was adapted from my new book The Business Model Innovation Factory. Learn by doing. Constantly test new ideas. Learn, share and repeat. The world is ever changing — stay ahead of the curve. Embrace the art of discovery. We need to try more stuff. Innovation is never about [...]
